Meet Kayla Kuni!
She currently serving as Co-Chair for IGARD.
Where is your library, and what kind of library is it?
I work for Pasco-Hernando State College on the Spring Hill campus.
This is an academic library located in Spring Hill, FL.
What is your job and what is your favorite thing about what you do at work?
I am a librarian and my favorite thing about my job is that I get to help students achieve their dream of graduating college.
Does your library currently have any Alzheimer related services?
If so, what? If not, what would you like to see in the future?
We do not, but I would like to see us offer something related to our nursing program. I am not 100% sure which direction I am going to go with this since I am still pretty new here. However, the college is pretty receptive to new ideas.

Please tell us a little about why Alzheimer's is important to you.
Alzheimer's is important to me because when I was in middle school I used to volunteer with an ALF that had an Alzheimer's wing. None of my peers wants to go there because it was difficult work. I enjoyed going into the Alzheimer's wing because the people there were always appreciative of company. As I got older, I saw some people I knew experience the disease and watched their family struggle with caring for someone who is suffering from Alzheimer's. Currently, a good friend of mine is the Vice President of Development for the Alzheimer's Association for the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter.
How did you find out about IGARD?

Shark Bait (I don't go out on boats. My dad was a shrimper; all of my boating days are behind me now.)
What's your favorite book you've recently read?
The Demon by Hubert Selby Jr.
BONUS.... anything else you would like to say!
I am working on an MBA right now and don't have as much time to read books that I want to. In my "free" time I enjoy running.
Thank you so much to Kayla for sharing with us!
